Our little cold-blooded monster got another really warm sweater. After some alterations the fit is much better than the panda which turned out quite boxy with giant sleeves.
I decided for a striped design this time and I really like how it turned out. I would totally wear it myself! 😉
On Friday it was the first cooler day here in Ottawa this year. Not really cold, but enough to protect the monster’s ears while at the playground. But when I put his beloved grey Hamburg toque on, I noticed that it has gotten quite a bit tighter since he last wore it in spring and bearly covered his ears…
So I made him a slightly bigger one today while he was napping, copying the shape of the grey toque. And once again, I really apprechiated my new walking foot. It made it so nice and easy to sew the knit fabric, even to line up the stripes along the side seam. I really like the navy and yellow stripes and they go really well with almost all of his clothes. It is only a light jersey toque for fall though, once the really frosty days start, we’ll have to find or make a warmer one!
We tried to get a nice picture of the monster and his new toque at the playground today, but he was not cooperating. I tried again after we came home, but he wouldn’t keep it on for even 2 seconds… 😉
UPDATE (26 Sep 2016):
I was luckier today, so here we go! And he even kept it on the entire time! And even better: we got some compliments from another mom for “this adorable toque” – that totally made my day! 🙂
